The Most Anticipated Game Releases of April 2023 (2024)

The first few months of the year have shown us that certain studios have a knack for doing great remakes. Some of the best games of February and March actually remakes: Dead Space and Resident Evil 4. This won’t repeat in April because there are no remasters/remakes upcoming. Despite of that, April shapes up to be another very crowded month for gamers.

Several dozen games are probably going to be released on various platforms next month, but we selected what we believe are the most important ones. Apart from the dozens of interesting indie titles coming out next month, two major series are getting new games: Dead Island and Star Wars Jedi.

That being said, lets deep-dive into the most anticipated game releases of April 2023. Next month, the first games actually get released after a few days, so you’ll have to wait until April 4 for Meet Your Maker (PC, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S), Road 96: Mile 0 (PC, PlayStation S4/5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch), and Filthy Animals: Heist Simulator (PC).

Several games follow shortly, including Moviehouse – The Film Studio Tycoon (PC), Curse of the Sea Rats (PC, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch), Everspace 2 (PC), Ravenswatch (Steam Early Access), and The Library of Babel (PC), which are all coming on April 5 and 6, respectively.

The second week of the next month starts on April 10 for gamers, as Miniland Adventure drops on PC, followed by Sherlock Holmes The Awakened coming to PC, PlayStation 45, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch on April 11, as well as Ghostwire: Tokyo (Xbox Series X/S) and Lightracer Spark the next day.

Five new games are scheduled for release on April 13: Voodolls (PC), Shardpunk: Verminfall (PC), Boundary (Steam Early Access), Screaming Chicken: Ultimate Showdown (PC), Beyond the Long Night (PC), Trinity Fusion (Steam Early Access), and Hunt the Night (PC).

Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection arrives on PC, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch on April 14, followed by Suffer The Night (PC) on April 17. A quartet of games are set for launch on April 18, such as: God of Rock (PC, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch), Minecraft Legends(PC, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch), The Mageseeker: A League of Legends Story (PC, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch), and Puzzle Quest 3 (PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S).

We’ve just passed the middle of the month and the game are still coming. Moons of Darsalon (PC) is dropping on April 19, alongside one of the most important releases of the month, Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores DLC (PlayStation 5).

After playing Arcana of Paradise – The Tower for several hours, I’m excited to check out the game again when it releases on PC and Nintendo Switch on April 20. Four other games are coming to various platforms on April 20, including Tin Hearts (PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch), Stray Blade (PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S), Eresys (PC), and Outer Terror (PC).

The first of the two major sequels that we’ve been expecting from some time arrives on April 21, Dead Island 2 (PC, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S). Game Boy Advance fans will be happy to know that the remasters of Advance Wars 1 and 2 are finally coming to Nintendo Switch on April 21, after multiple delays.

But wait, there’s more! Shadows of Doubt is expected to hit Steam Early Access on April 24, followed by Roots of Pacha, which is coming to PC on April 25. Three other games are scheduled to arrive on April 25: Afterimage (PC, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch), Stranded: Alien Dawn (PC, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S), and Strayed Lights (PC, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch).

Before the second major sequel coming this month, we still have a couple of indies dropping. Cassette Beasts is the first to arrive on PC on April 26, followed by The Last Case of Benedict Fox (PC, Xbox Series X/S), Protodroid Delta (PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch), and Ash of Gods: The Way (PC) on April 27.

For the last part of the month, we have Star Wars Jedi: Survivorlanding on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, along with Welcome to Goodland (PC) Minabo – A Walk Through Life (PC, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch), and Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak (PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S) on April 28.

All these games have already been confirmed for release throughout April, but some might still be delayed. Also, many titles might not have been included in the list, but we’ll update the story when we get word about a new release scheduled for April.

Since I’ve already played them, I’d like to highlight some of the games that are coming out in April. In particular, we suggest those who love survival building and action-adventure games to keep their eyes on Stranded: Alien Dawn, Strayed Lights, and Stray Blade.

Also, if you’re a Dead Island fan, I had the chance to check out the first several hours of the sequel and we did like what we played. Despite some shortcomings, Dead Island 2 is likely to be a decent zombie-killing game.

Finally, I’d recommend checking out Lightracer Spark if you love sci-fi mysteries, visual novels, as well managing and influencing the evolution of an entire civilization. And, of course, Everspace 2 exits early access in April after several years in development. The sequel is much bigger (60-80 hours) and brings a lot of improvements over the original. Here is hoping for similarly rich May, even though that will certainly make our wallets hurt even more.
