Senior recognition ceremonies are defined as a time when an athletic department, program or team recognizes and thanks seniors who have participated in an interscholastic program. Please follow these guidelines to ensure consistency among programs and to respect our opponents, spectators and officials.
1. The date for the senior recognition will be selected by the head coach. Senior ceremonies may or may not be held on dates of night contests.
2. If the ceremony takes place prior to the contest it must happen BEFORE warm-ups. The ceremony may also be held after a contest, if you so choose. Either way we must ensure that we allow for a proper warm up and making sure that the official start time for the contest is met.
3. Athletes are typically announced with their parents/guardians and are escorted in front of spectators to be recognized. Individual pictures, as well as a group photo, are permitted during the ceremony. One designated person will read a brief script, which is prepared ahead of time, and is subject to review by the athletic director upon request. The script should include: players name, parents/guardians names, number of years played in the program and where they will be attending and/or playing in college.
4. Individual student-athletes should not be speaking at this ceremony. The purpose is to thank our senior student-athletes for their contributions to a particular program. Should you choose to have student-athletes speak, that should be done at your banquet or end of year programs.
5. Any gift giving (flowers etc.), or additional photo opportunities, should be planned for in the timing of the ceremony. Booster club funding to cover some expenses is permissible.
6. Please be aware of any extra duties to make this day special. Make sure that PA system, music and any helpers are coordinated ahead of time. Decorations are fine, but cost should be considered. Please minimize costs to families. Please be sure to share this information to any volunteers you may have working on these ceremonies.
Senior night is a time for parents to come and support their senior who is playing their last high school game. It is also a time for the senior to say thank you to their parents for everything they have done for them.

Senior Night is usually held at the final home game, meet or match of the season. Players are announced individually and enter the stadium, or walk onto the field or court, escorted by their family.
Usually, a junior teammate(s) and parent(s) take the lead to plan a special way to honor their Senior teammates. One way to honor the athlete's parents or guardians, is to present them with a simple bouquet of flowers during the ceremony. Maury Boosters would like to supply the bouquets for this special event.
And so you could wear a black blouse with a pair of black pants. And you could wear red statement earrings. Or you could wear or you could have a red, red shoes, like a red flat. That's where you can add a pop of color.
“Thank you all for being amazing people.I hope you all have successful futures and careers.” “I have become really good friends with a lot of the seniors, and they have been the best to me, especially kids from the hockey team.” “Many of the seniors have been role models to me by showing their school spirit.
Senior Night is a special occasion for athletes where a crowd of loved ones, teammates, and coaches celebrate all they have done in their athletic careers so far, whether that is for playing on the soccer, basketball, or cheerleading team or any of the other host of athletic teams on campus.
Take time to relax before bedtime each night. Some people read a book, listen to soothing music, or soak in a warm bath. Try not to watch television or use your computer, cell phone, or tablet in the bedroom. The light from these devices may make it difficult for you to fall asleep.
For the first time in over 10 years, senior students embarked the year with an orientation, which was a sleepover on campus filled with camaraderie, laughter, and activities. From bonding as a class to establishing leadership of the student body, the sleepover kicked the year off the right way.
